GHD is looking for a driven and dynamic Railway Environmental Remediation Project Director/Lead to join our growing Central Region Contaminated Assessment and Remediation (CAR) Group. Manager of multiple Front-Line Managers in the field of Environmental Health.
• Innovate and Lead: Solve complex problems related to environmental investigations and remediation, delivering tailored solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
• Expand Our Impact: Grow our remediation presence in the railway sector through strategic relationship-building with Class 1 and short-line railways.
• Deliver Excellence: Oversee proposal development, lead contract negotiations, and ensure every project is delivered on time, on budget, and with unwavering client satisfaction.
• Elevate the Team: Mentor and inspire a high-performing team of environmental professionals, cultivating growth and fostering innovation.
• Environmental Risk Management: Oversee the environmental risk management
processes, ensuring the organization's operations have minimal detrimental impact on
the environment.
• Environmental Impact Assessment: Coordinate specific elements of environmental
impact assessments with guidance from senior colleagues.
• Climate Adaptation Strategy: Guide an operational area in the creation and
implementation of highly complex climate adaptation strategies for vital or large-scale
projects, preempting potential climate risks.
• Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be": Document complex "as is" and "to be" processes and
describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately
the change required.
• Solutions Analysis: Identify and evaluate complex, expertise-led solutions against a range
of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.
• Client Issue Diagnosis: Collate and conduct analysis of the tactical and operational
information gathered through interviews and research to support the diagnosis of
underlying client issues and problems and the design of single solutions.
• Client & Customer Management (External): Manage important client relationships with
guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of
more transactional clients and customers.
• Community of Practice Management: Participate in and contribute to a community of
practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own capability and develop
innovative practice among colleagues.
• Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior
colleagues.
• Health, Safety, and Environment: Monitor and review performance against health,
safety, and environment (HSE) key performance indicators (KPIs) and patterns of
behavior within the area of responsibility. Take action to improve performance and to
resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory
instructions.
• Personal Capability Building: Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology,
policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external
accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation
and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending
conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Organizational Capability Building: Use the organization's formal development
framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement
actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or
