Job Summary:

This position supports the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology (PMI) as well as the Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology and Inflammation (VI4). The Project Manager leads the Department and Institute’s communications, including digital content creation, social media strategy, and maintenance of websites. Additionally, a key responsibility for this role is the management of a media studio, which is used by faculty and trainees to host virtual seminars, conduct interviews, record lectures, and other asynchronous presentations. The Project Manager coordinates and mentors graduate students who participate in the PMI/VI4 Communications Internship and supervises one staff member.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the department and VI4 center to manage the media studio space and user activities. The Studio hosts virtual seminars, remote interviews, video abstracts, dissertation defenses, asynchronous class videos, etc.
  • Plan, lead, and develop video creation through The Studio.
  • Provides technical leadership by training faculty, staff, and students in the use of The Studio. Mentors an internship for interdisciplinary graduate students and post-doctoral fellows on executing creative communication strategies
  • Leads creative content production for promotional and educational videos, infographics and social media content, and community outreach programs
  • Facilitates the identification of gaps in service level/processes to identify potential areas for improvement.
  • A hybrid work schedule may be considered.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

• Financial Processes (Intermediate): Ability to monitor costs, expenses and revenue as well as the ability to manage those costs and expenses in relation to budgeted amounts.
• Project Planning (Intermediate): Demonstrates ability to realistically anticipate resource needs, identify and break work down into discrete and measurable tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, prepare acceptance criteria and organize work for a the continuum of projects. Appropriately matches equipment and capital resources to task demands. Reshapes project during life-cycle evolution, if needed. Demonstrates ability to break down work into manageable and measurable units, estimating time and costs appropriate to the project stage. Works with project management tools.
• Project Management (Intermediate): Planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
