THE ROLE: Senior Data Center (SDDC) Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) Engineer works on our team to ensure executional excellence and creating supreme customer experiences for all assigned projects.  The Senior SDDC Engineer combines technical ability and experience with polished communication skills to deploy a variety of solutions that could focus on traditional, hyper-converged or hybrid data center solutions. 

Travel Requirements:

In this role you will be expected to travel up to 35%. It will be based in our Detroit or Grand Rapids, MI Locations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout Data Center professional services engagements.
• Work with a team of engineers on client projects and ongoing professional services engagements.
• Lead projects and the deployment of Data Center solutions for clients of all sizes and different design requirements.
• Possess the ability to see a project through fruition from assignment to completion with minimal guidance.
• Perform post-implementation support and troubleshooting for clients as needed. 
• Author professional client-facing documentation with excellent technical writing skills.
• Track and enter time spent into required systems on a timely basis. 
• Be a trusted advisor to internal and external clients and SMEs.   
• Lead conversations and technical whiteboarding sessions in front of clients and/or peers.    

Required Skills:

• Experience with some or all of the following server platforms:  
• Cisco UCS, Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant
• Experience with some or all of the following hypervisors:  
• VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V
• Experience with some or all of the following storage platforms:   
• Pure FlashArray, Pure FlashBlade, Dell Unity, Dell PowerStore, Dell PowerScale, NetApp FAS/AFF/ASA
• Experience with some or all of the following storage networking technologies:   
• Cisco MDS Fibre Channel, Brocade Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVMe over Fabrics
• Experience with some or all of the following HCI solutions:
• Dell VxRail, VMware vSAN, Nutanix NCI, Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, Dell PowerFlex
• Experience with some or all of the following cloud infrastructure:
• VMWare Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, Google Cloud VMware Engine
• Experience with some or all of the following data protection solutions:
• Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, Commvault, Zerto
• Firm understanding of Data Center networking best practices & architecture.

Additional Desired Skills:

• Cloud – AWS, Azure, or Google
• Migration Experience – migrating variety of workloads
• Architecture recommendations
• Analysis, sizing, and cost estimate a plus.
• Developing maintenance processes

• Automating cleanup
• Resource group strategies

• Deploying, configuring, and securing components

• Storage accounts
