Description

This position is responsible for ensuring, through effective performance of quality inspections on the production lines, that the quality standards of product produced are maintained or exceeded and informing operators of conformance or non-conformance to established quality standards and specifications so that product released to the warehouse for shipment meets or exceeds customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspections on production lines. 
• Stop production, isolate and advise disposition of defective in-process goods. 
• Verify raw materials meet required specifications. Place on hold raw materials which do not meet specifications or contain quality defects.  
• Report both written and orally on departmental specific quality issues. 
• Collect substandard material standards. 
• Troubleshoot specific problems within the production process. 
• Compile data gathered from daily inspections. 
• Pull, package and address sample materials for customer inspections. 
• Interact with operators to identify specific opportunities for improvement.
• Operate lab equipment effectively. 
• Responsible for ensuring food packaging safety, food defense and quality standards.
• Alternate team member. 
• Alternate team member will provide coverage for said responsibilities in absence and member will provide coverage for Alternate team member’s responsibilities in case of their absence.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Ability to lift 35 lbs.  Ability to interact with line supervisors and workers in a non-threatening manner. Requires mental toughness necessary to withstand pressures (if any) to relax quality standards. Ability to stand ten hours (twelve during busy season) and walk up and down steps.  
• Requires knowledge of capability and functionality of all plant equipment. Knowledge of all plant products. Good math skills including fractions and decimals. At least one year of prior, similar quality experience. Capable of mastering basic PC skills.
