Job Summary:
This position supports and reports to the Manger of Legal Operations at Bechtel Global Corporation. This individual will be part of the Legal Operations Management team, which has oversight for selection of Legal Department technology systems, outside counsel and vendor management, finance and budget management, communications, and training for the LRMIAEC department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Works with the Manager of Legal Operations to ensure the department’s work processes and technology use are aligned to priorities and facilitates technology audits
- Helps to drive, track and report progress and metrics on key department initiatives
- Identifies solutions to increase overall efficiency
- Oversight and audit of the department knowledge management system, ensuring proper document management
- Ensures effective change management for all programs and systems implementation
- Supports the Manager of Legal Operations with the department’s communications strategy
- Facilitates interface with law firms and alternative legal service providers relating to eBilling and matter management, and identifies practices to optimize efficiency of external legal spend (including annual audits of billing guidelines)
- Develops of quarterly budget updates and analysis and presents to Manager of Legal Operation and General Counsel
- Facilitates continuing education programs and development of legal and department training modules
- Performs special projects and other responsibilities assigned by the Manager of Legal Operations and General Counsel
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree (Business Administration, Finance, or information Technology preferred) and 5+ years of business experience (preferably legal operations or paralegal) with progressively increasing responsibilities. Must have 9+ years of relavent experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in mapping work flow and processes
- Proficiency in developing and analyzing budgets
- Proficiency with Hyperion or other similar applications
- Proficiency with iManage and CoPilot or similar applications, experience with eBilling, matter management and SharePoint platforms
- Demonstrated competence with change management, and planning and organizational skills
- Experience working with senior executives
- Ability to analyze issues, develop innovative solutions, and execute with limited guidance
