Laboratory Technician (U-Metal) - Nuclear Fuel Services - Erwin, TN
SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Perform certain specified analyses in the laboratory. These include all product certification analyses, as well as certain control and accountability analyses.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform bioassay overchecks.
- Perform sample selection work.
- Sample and seal waste cylinders located in work area.
- Keep area and equipment clean, including decontamination of work surfaces (excluding floors, unless direct spill) and trash removal from work area.
- Receive and distribute supplies delivered by the Yard unit at laboratory entrance to the various laboratories.
- Perform computer operations (sealing transactions, container control, etc.) as required.
- Prepare regents as required for work area.
- Seal samples and solid waste as required.
- Clean mercury and mercury-contaminated fuel generated by density determinations.
- Analyze standard as required for qualification, calibration and method control.
- Operate by all applicable Laboratory, Safety, Criticality, Security, Accountability, Safeguard and Measurements Procedures, Letters of Authorization, etc., as applicable.
- Perform various calculations such as, but not limited to, the following: Emission Spectrographic Impurities; ppm Additive, Determination of Density; grams U/liter by Titration.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- One year of College Chemistry
Pay: $34.54
The starting rate for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is $34.54 per hour. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
