About the Role
Senior Fire Safety Engineer will support Amentum’s Integrated Delivery Services (IDS) team in delivering fire engineering solutions for design and construction projects across highly regulated sectors (e.g., infrastructure, industrial, energy) You will be responsible for producing engineering-led fire safety deliverables, including analytical assessments, regulatory interpretations, and the development of building‑specific and sitewide fire strategies. This role requires a solid foundation in engineering principles, not only practical fire system experience. Although the role is based in Poland, projects follow mostly UK standards and regulations (e.g., BS 9999, Defense Infrastructure Fire Standards). Training and guidance will be provided where needed.
Key responsibilities:
Assist in preparing fire strategies for buildings and contribute to sitewide strategies under supervision.
Support compliance with Building Regulations and layout planning.
Provide input to tender documentation for new work.
Contribute to design workshops and offer fire engineering opinions on construction details.
Support liaison with client fire authorities (MoD, DIO) under guidance of senior engineers.
Perform engineering analyses including calculations, fire safety evaluations, code compliance assessments, and performance-based reasoning under the guidance of senior engineers.
Interpret and apply UK fire engineering standards (BS 9999, MOD Fire Standards, etc.) to support design decisions.
Produce technical reports and engineering documentation demonstrating analytical rigor and justification for fire safety solutions.
Contribute to the engineering design process, not just installation or operational aspects of fire protection systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant governance and standards.
Deliver assigned work packages on time and within budget.
Core Competencies
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fire engineering principles and standards.
Collaboration: Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and international environments.
Communication: Clear and professional communication skills in English and Polish.

Engineering Capability: Demonstrated experience in producing fire engineering calculations, assessments, or strategy components (academic, internship, or professional).

Qualifications
Degree in engineering, preferably fire engineering, or postgraduate qualification in fire engineering.
Working toward chartership (or equivalent professional recognition) will be an asset.
Experience in fire safety projects, ideally in defense or highly regulated sectors.
Knowledge of fire standards such as BS 9999, EN 45545; familiarity with NFPA 130 is a plus.
CFD and fire modelling exposure beneficial but not essential.
Experience must include engineering analysis or design responsibilities, not solely installation or maintenance of fire protection systems.
Fluent spoken and written English (B2 level or higher).

International working environment and unique company culture fostering individual career growth and work-life balance
