About the role


Job Summary: 

A BMS Software Validation Engineer is responsible for validating the Battery Management System (BMS) software and controls applications in both low-voltage and high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems. They are responsible for maintaining and extending our HIL test environment. They are well-versed in hardware, software, and CAN communications as well as typical development tools.


Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze functional requirements for both 24V/48V and High Voltage BMS.
  • Develop test plans and test cases from requirements.
  • Participate in requirements, test plan, and test case reviews.
  • Execute test plans, test cases, review, and record results.
  • Maintain traceability between test cases and requirements. 
  • Maintain Hardware-In-the-Loop (HiL) simulators and real battery systems. 
  • Strive for automation improvements.
  • Participate in defining validation processes and methods.
  • Work in a wide range of environments and disciplines to avoid and mitigate problems in a safety-critical system.
  • Familiarity with functional safety requirements and implementation of safety-critical applications.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Predictable and reliable attendance. 
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continually improve the BMS hardware design.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, software, controls, or similar degree.
  • Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Battery Management Systems. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Systems.
  • Experience with High Voltage batteries. 
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and find solutions.
  • Ability to be flexible and take on new roles.
  • Experience with ETAS and ECU Test is preferred.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. 
  • Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen. 
  • May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead. 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain. 
  • Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
