Overview
The Director of Finance plans and directs all aspects of financial, accounting, purchasing, and internal control functions for the venue by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors. The Director of Finance directly supervises the Finance Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Oak View Group’s policies and applicable laws. Other responsibilities include overseeing the interviewing, hiring of fulltime employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems and working colaboratively with all departments in the building.
This role will pay a salary of $80,000 to $90,000.

About the Venue
The Venue Management division of Oak View Group has an exciting opening for an Director of Finance on the campus of UMass Lowell (UML) for the Tsongas Center, a 7,000 seat multi-purpose arena. The Tsongas Center is one of the premier arenas in the New England region and is home to UML Division I Men’s Ice Hockey, Men’s and Women’s basketball programs, PWHL Hockey, Massachusetts Pirates Football as well as a variety of events including concerts, family shows, comedy, and other live events. The Tsongas Center serves as a public venue to the community and has been a staple of the region for the past 26 years. Additionally, this position supports the operations for LeLacheur Park which is also managed by our Tsongas Center Management team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements, annual budget and yearend reports for the Client and Oak View Corporate Office
- Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities of assigned programs and functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivables, purchasing, budgeting and the general ledger
- Select, train, motivate and evaluate accounting staff
- Manage and participate in the development and administration of the arena annual budget
- Direct and provide consultation to department managers in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies
- Direct the monitoring of and approve expenditures
- Implement budgetary adjustments as necessary
- Works with Corporate Human Resources to administer personnel and related policies and procedures
- Coordinate the accounting activities of the facility in relation to the annual audit
- Prepare event settlements and generate account transfers or check payments
- Prepare monthly financial statements for corporate office and client
- Analyze profit and loss figures to prepare monthly comments and explanations of performance trends
- Maintain contracts and ensure building compliance
- Complete monthly forecast as part of the month end financials
- Monitor daily cash status and invest and/or reallocate as needed
- Conduct money movement for major event settlements
- Prepare and file sales tax returns
- Post monthly benefit entries to the general ledger
- Complete monthly work papers to support general ledger balances
- Assist in various Human Resource functions as needed
- Serve as liaison for Accounting with other departments, divisions and outside auditors
- Negotiate and resolve significant and controversial issues
- Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal/external clients
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years professional accounting experience including at least one year of supervisory responsibility
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance public or business administration or related field
- Knowledge of MAS 200 and/or Ceridian software strongly preferred
- Previous Arena/Entertainment accounting experience highly desired
- Certified Public Accountant preferred
