Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Accounting Assistant 3, College of Fine Arts, School of Music [R0142583]

ROLE of the POSITION

The Accounting Assistant 3 manages the annual budget, including comprehensive compilation, revenue tracking and reporting, and posting of expenditures. More specific duties include the processing of all scholarships, the purchase of large orders, preparation of invoices for specific divisions in the school, and management of student workers payment.

The Accounting Assistant 3 will work closely with the Director, the Office Manager, and an Administrative Assistant 2. The Accounting Assistant 3 will initiate and maintain contact with all affiliates, vendors, sponsors, advertisers, and in-kind contributors.

PROFILE of the COLLEGE

UNLV’s School of Music includes more than 400 students and 37 full-time faculty, offering BA, BM, MM, and DMA degrees, as well as an Artist Diploma, in the fields of performance, composition, music education, musicology, jazz and commercial music, and music technology. Each year, students and faculty present more than 150 concerts, recitals, and staged performances, featuring 30 student ensembles specializing in a wide variety of genres and styles. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial to data prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and two to three (2-3) years related professional experience in accounting, business, non-profit management, or higher education management preferred. Candidate should also possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; strong decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills; outstanding financial and budgeting skills along with knowledge of financial acumen and familiarity with proper financial reporting; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of national and international scholars; willingness to take initiative and lead on projects; and overall, creativity, and resourcefulness. Familiarity with Workday preferred and expertise working with Excel.

SALARY

Grade 27 Step 1, salary 41,634.72. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
