About the role

As senior member of Database Engineering team, within NetSuite GBU, you will work in a role to diagnose and resolve performance issues with overall database instance or individual queries. In addition, you will collaborate with development teams to ensure they deliver solutions designed for optimal performance.You will encounter a variety of interesting problems and find ways to solve them rapidly and effectively.

To be successful in this role you should be familiar with SQL constructs, understand principles of schema modelling, know main concepts of Oracle database internals like architecture (multitenancy, memory components, etc), waits events, logs, etc. A positive desire to learn, listen, think, test, and fix problems daily is essential to success.

Operational experience of managing backups, applying patches, etc will be supplementary and desirable.

NetSuite Database Cloud Engineering is responsible for scalability and performance of entire NetSuite SaaS fleet  - Diagnose and resolve individual SQL performance issues (you would need to apply hints, define new indexes, investigate optimiser/environment issues). - Diagnose and resolve performance issues with overall database instance (DB configuration, Oracle bugs, Issues injected by Development teams and etc). - Explore and adopt new technologies, e.g. Oracle 23ai, Autonomous Transaction Processing, Auto indexing, Frequent statistics and etc. - Collaborate with Development teams to design solution for optimal performance.

Skills expected:

  • SQL Tuning
  • PL/SQL experience
  • Database schema design principles
  • Solid understanding of Oracle architecture and internals (RAC, Memory Components, processes)
  • Tracing (intermediate) 
  • Mining AWR and/or ASH data
  • Building synthetic test cases
  • Scripting like Python and Shell 
  • Automation experience (e.g. using Ansible, Rundeck and alike).
  • Experience with source control systems: Gitlab, BitBucket and etc
  • Database and Infrastructure patching (ideal but not mandatory)

Skills preferred but not mandatory:

  • RAC performance diagnostics (Shared disk system, Clusterware, Interconnects, Kernel) 
  • Experinece Used tools like Oracle Real Application Testing, SwingBench or HammerDB
  • NoSQL DB experience

Related education & industry experience:A Bachelor’s degree in a technical area or equivalent experience in a relevant field is required. Candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in performance tuning, database development, software engineering, or database engineering; or directly related database performance tuning in other roles such as QA, SRE or DBA.

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
