About the role

Background

Global Payments is a key strength and differentiator for Citi. Our business intermediates and processes flows generated by Corporates, Banks & Financial Institutions and Governments. However, increasingly, payments are accumulating from digital native clients with B2C models, who expect 24*7 payment uptime across low value, high volume transactions.

Citi's goal is to provide our clients with a superior client experience and innovative product and solution sets that maximize Citi’s penetration of payment flows. Citi is uniquely positioned by way of our global capabilities and geographic (e.g. payments in 137 currencies and 100+ countries) reach to deliver on this opportunity in a way that our competitors cannot (e.g. they do not have the client, geographical or product breadth).

The Team

Express is a next generation payments solution enabling clients to grow digital businesses at scale, 24*7 with a re-imagined best in class Payments & Receivables proposition targeted at fast-growing, digital-focused client segments.

The Express project is set to meet the needs of the growth in the Digital economy, supporting new clients’ business models, embracing the changing payment and market landscapes, delivering frictionless payments and collections solutions in the digital world.

The Express team will be a self-contained multi-disciplinary unit operating under TTS, but with members from all functional areas of the bank.  The team is tasked to design, develop, and deploy cloud-native, digital commerce solutions for high volume, high speed clients.  The solutions will provide the functionality, infrastructure and operating model capabilities to address the emerging, rapidly changing and expansive payment & financial needs of e-Commerce companies in an increasingly competitive space.

The team will manage the end-to-end product management and development process from concept formation to strategy, business requirement, design and development, pilot launch, global rollout, and commercialization. This will result in:

  • A best-in-class, cloud-based tech stack that is scalable (5000+ TPS) and always on (24*7, 99.99+% up time), with minimal interaction with legacy processes and platforms unless necessary
  • A platform with minimal to no manual touch points with automated risk controls and self-service capabilities
  • Superior client experience, with frictionless engagement and shorter client cycle times
  • Data as an asset way to operate. Citi will have access to unprecedented consumer flows that would give both Citi and clients unparalleled insights.

In addition, the Express project will incorporate new tools, ways of working, and culture using the “new operating model” endorsed by the Board that will enable faster go-to-market through a more flexible, client focused, and rapid test-fail-learn-launch approach including

  • A new organization structure with a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team across product, technology and functional partners, that is co-located
  • Deep focus on delivering a service-based architecture across all elements of the payments flow, designing reusable components and services that can be leveraged across the bank for future projects
  • Agile approach / incremental delivery with robust tracking, setting of ambitious but achievable objectives and key results with close monitoring of appropriate key performance indicators

The Position

  • The Express Product Team consists of cross functional product managers building out next generation digital commerce capabilities spanning across the Payments & Receivables spectrum, including but not limited to Instant Payments, Gateways, APMs, Liquidity and Channels solutions.
  • The Product Manager is a full-time, dedicated position reporting to the Payments Express Product Head, who is responsible for Payments Express Product Strategy and Execution as whole
  • The Product Manager will primarily be based in 388 Greenwich Street in NYC, where the Payments Express multi-functional team hub will be located. Citi supports workplace flexibility, and this role has been designated as hybrid in office and remote, meaning up to two days per week may be worked remotely.

Responsibilities

  • The Product Manager will own, deliver and manage specific product services that are being built as part of Payments Express. The Product Manager will redesign and implement services to minimize and eliminate friction to enable digital commerce flows.
  • The initial focus will be on Payments and Receivables capabilities built over banking rails – e.g., Instant Payments, Cross Border instant payments etc.
  • Must represent their domain area of knowledge, reach back into their function for support and advice as required
  • Operate
