Senior Government Engagement Specialist

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced executive with a passion and expertise for navigating government procurement for our Sr. Government Engagement position. Build and scale our government procurement business with a focus on truckload opportunities. You will be helping to scale a new team within Flexport, working with product and the business to refine the process, product and narrative, managing procurement events, and ultimately bringing in new contracts and capabilities to Flexport. You'll be part of a new initiative within Flexport and a key thought partner in how we build our government capabilities in the market. You will be working with a high-performing team and closely with the EVP of Truckload as a key partner.

You will be

• Developing new business into a brand new division within Flexport, managing and closing complex government procurement contracts.
• Collaborating with truckload and government team leaders to define capabilities and scale the government business.
• As an expert in government logistics, leading the introduction of new products and capabilities to the market and ensuring it is on target.
• Leading the onboarding process post-close and ongoing engagement to ensure we drive maximum value.
• Working closely with the marketing and sales teams to refine the selling narrative for the new business unit.
• Serving as the external face of Flexport to government procurement leaders and is responsible for unlocking and growing new business opportunities for Flexport. 

You should have

• At least 10-15 years experience in managing and closing government procurement contracts within the logistics industry
• Demonstrated track record of truckload and logistics sales, with the ability to close large, complex deals
• Ability to craft compelling narratives and pitches to secure government contracts
• Expertise of onboarding large shippers for government procurement contracts and intellectual acumen to manage various types of client interactions
• Proficient and enthusiastic about the intricacies of government procurement, possess a deep intuition for uncovering client needs, and have a well established network for accessing specialized insights.
• Strong collaborative approach to driving innovative solutions within internal teams
• Ability to learn fast, a relentless work ethic, and a burning desire to build and contribute to the growth and development of the team and organization as a whole.
• A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
