As CS/Lead RRT, you will provide managerial and clinical leadership of your assigned team. You will also serve as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support a diverse patient population, with many managing various chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in their lives and help promote a journey toward recovery or stability.  

A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:30 p.m. -- 7:00 a.m, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the respiratory staff as designated by departmental management.

  • Monitor daily operations of assigned areas and act as a resource person for staff .

  • Assign therapist workload and adjust staffing based on patient volume.

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement.

  • Provide feedback on staff performance.

  • Assist with development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Policy/Procedures/Protocols. 

  • Act as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team. 

  • Assist with developing and providing ongoing orientation/training for newly hired therapists, existing staff, nursing, and LIPs. 

  • Perform blood gas puncture and analysis (at sites where applicable). 

  • Perform patient education regarding treatment and care of respiratory illness/disease to patient and family (at sites where applicable). 

  • If the employee is designated as a Technical Consultant by the Blood Gas Laboratory Director, the employee must meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate’s degree and graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy

  • Three years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment OR must possess a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment 

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC

  • Ohio Respiratory Care Professional licensure (RCP) through the Ohio State Medical Board

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA), and/or certified as a Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) (as appropriate to site) 

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association (AHA) (inpatient only as appropriate to site) 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) (inpatient only as appropriate to site)
