Investment Operations and Data Analyst
The Investment Analyst is responsible for investment operations, portfolio analytics, and data management in support of ASU Enterprise Partners’/ASU Foundation’s endowment and investment portfolios, which currently total about $2 billion. The Investment Analyst works closely with the Investment Manager, CIO, external consultants, managers, and the ASUEP Finance department to ensure accurate and timely execution of all operational and reporting functions.
What you’ll do
Runs investment analytics and research reports on markets, asset classes, and manager performance in support of the Investment Manager and CIO
Assists with investment manager due diligence, searches, and ongoing underwriting of portfolio investments under the direction of the Investment Manager
Maintains and updates the manager database in CRM, ensuring data integrity and completeness across all investment relationships
Executes capital calls, fund subscriptions, fund transfers, rebalancing, and all investment operations duties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Prepares investment performance and risk reports across sector strategies including equities, fixed income, hard assets, and alternative investments for review by the Investment Manager
Assists in preparing investment-related materials for committee meetings, financial reporting, audit/tax preparation, and other institutional reporting needs
Works with ASU’s student managed funds on trading and compliance
Tracks performance of direct investments in real estate and venture, compiling data and flagging issues for the Investment Manager
Assists with underwriting and diligence of direct real estate investments, including financial modeling and data gathering
Assists in completing ASU Foundation and university surveys on investing and sustainability practices
Assists in responding to endowment and investment questions from donors, development officers, and internal stakeholders
Manages actuary assumptions in the CGA program within Estate & Gift Planning
Supports team development initiatives and contributes to a positive, high-performance team culture
Other duties as assigned
What you'll need
Knowledge of financial markets, market risks, investing, investment performance, and risk analysis
Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment
Strong quantitative analytical and modeling skills
Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
Ability to liaison with various consultants and board members
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Advanced computer skills that include extensive knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible
Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies
Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties
Ability to represent the institution well
Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects
Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans
Relevant qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance or related area
Preferred education and experience
Individuals who are seeking CFA certification in the future are preferred.
