The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for new products of moderate complexity. This role partners closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to support New Product Development (NPD), Design Transfer, and ongoing manufacturing improvements. The position contributes to process definition, documentation, validation, and continuous improvement activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.

The role operates under general supervision and is expected to independently execute assigned deliverables while escalating risks and complex issues appropriately.

What will you be doing?

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Design Transfer

  • Support NPD programs by developing manufacturing methods, process flows, and operation sequences for components, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies of moderate complexity.
  • Act as lead engineer on low‑complexity projects to execute Design Transfer deliverables and gate review requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and present Design Transfer documentation at formal Design Reviews.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and related documentation in PLM and SAP systems.
  • Conduct print reviews and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations to design engineering.

Manufacturing Process Development

  • Design, develop, construct, and implement manufacturing processes, work instructions, and routers.
  • Design and support simple tools, fixtures, gages, and test fixtures as required.
  • Release manufacturing documentation including work instructions, drawings, preventive maintenance requirements, and spare parts lists.
  • Assist production sites with routing development and process optimization as needed.

Risk Management, Quality, and Validation

  • Lead or support PFMEA activities with cross‑functional and external teams to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks.
  • Analyze process capability data and recommend improvements based on statistical outputs.
  • Consult and/or review Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), control plan development, and inspection strategies.
  • Support engineering studies, process characterization, and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) under general supervision.
  • Assist in developing validation protocols, reports, and process verification & validation (V&V) strategies.
  • Support investigations, CAPAs, complaints, and MRB activities by providing engineering input and technical analysis.

Cost, Capacity, and Continuous Improvement

  • Estimate manufacturing costs, develop time standards, and provide input for capacity planning.
  • Participate in kaizen and continuous improvement events to drive efficiency, quality, and cost improvements as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for equipment, tooling, and gaging related to new product launches.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Comply with all site HSE training requirements, procedures, and policies.
  • Identify and support actions to improve workplace safety and environmental performance.

Technical Knowledge & Experience

Materials Experience (one or more):

  • Titanium
  • Cobalt Chrome
  • Stainless steels
  • Medical‑grade plastics

Process Experience (one or more):

  • Machining of metals and/or plastics (lathe, mill, EDM, multi‑axis equipment)
  • Casting, forging, grinding, finishing
  • Complex assembly operations

Manufacturing & Quality Systems

  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and shop floor control systems.
  • Understanding of process validation, risk management, and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology (required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience in a medical manufacturing or any other related
