Revised: 07/02/2026The Executive Assistant to the Police Chief, is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and overseeing administrative support operations for the Chief of Police, director of a highly complex department. This position acts with a high degree of independent judgement, representing the Office of the Chief of Police in communications, assisting on legal matters and ensuring the Police Chief’s position is effectivity conveyed to city leadership and the community. The role requires a deep understanding of law enforcement, municipal governance, public relations, and legal compliance.

- Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff.
- Coordinates, administers and supervises procedures, projects, and/or functions of the Office of the Chief of Police operations: monitors same for adherence to prescribed time schedules.
- Develops, prepares, maintains, processes, and supervises the distribution of various reports, records, legal document, etc. that are pertinent to a specific to project and/or the overall planning for the department.
- Applies management techniques and principles to increase workflow, improve communication, reporting procedure; reviews and monitors operating practice of the Office of the Chief of Police to create more effective systems or improve existing ones.
- Oversees the drafting of letters and correspondence; follows up constitutional issues, and coordinates with City departments to find solutions.
- Assisting the Chief of Police in reviewing, writing, filing, preparing correspondence such as letters, memorandums, status reports, resolutions, ordinances, contracts and council communications.
- Assists in responding to Public Information Act requests involving the Chief of Police in a timely manner.
- Serves as the main point of contact for all inquiries directed to the Office of the Chief of Police, including receiving and prioritizing requests, coordinating interviews, official statements and ensuring accurate communication from the Chief of Police.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
