 Position Overview:

 

The Director of Finance is a key member of the financial team who leads a variety of financial management and accounting services and serves as a senior expert for the team.  This position is an expert in cash management, tax handling, audit, and accounting policies and procedures.  As the expert, this position provides guidance and recommendations regarding financial areas that impact the business.  In addition, this position works closely with peers (Controller, Sales Controller, FP&A, Procurement) and supports the VP Finance & Procurement and the CFOO by providing counsel and recommendations on economic and financial trends, overall financial strategy, financial operations, and serves as a mentor to other finance positions.  

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Cash Management:     
    1. Oversees bank relations and manages administration & reporting, reviews, and drives improvements in cash management, and ensures timely reconciliation of cash application and disbursements.            
    2. Monitors cash transactions and reports any unusual items and investigates as needed.  Assist with accurately forecasting timing and amount of future cash flows over the next two to three years.
    3. Provides insight and makes recommendations on how to best manage cash and drive impact by implementing sound cash management principles. 
    4. Oversees the extension of credit to clients.  
    5. Maintains a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over cash management and cash systems.
    6. Manage the daily Treasury needs of the organization including wire transfers and foreign currency exchange transactions as needed.   
  •   Tax:
    1. Ensures federal, state, local tax and international documents are all filed in a timely manner and tax provision schedules prepared, including consolidating provision schedules.
    2. Prepares monthly tax provisions and reconciles various tax accounts.
    3. Work with experts to recommend tax strategies to minimize tax payments while remaining compliant with the law. Maintains legislative materials and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.  
    4. Ensures we are calculating tax using best in class practices and processes.
    5. Secure/Communicate with oversea advisors to assist the business on tax implications when considering other locations for business entities as well as tax strategies for handling employees located outside of the US and UK.
  • Audits:
    1. Manages audit vendors and assists in planning audit scope and objectives.  Reviews recommendations and works with team to implement changes based on audit results.
    2. Coordinates with the team to provide requested audit and tax information.    
    3. Evaluates and tests internal controls.  
  • Accounting Policies:
    1. Leads the creation and adoption of accounting policies and guidelines.  Works with internal staff to ensure compliance and adoption of accounting standards. 
    2.  Best-in-class practices and regularly reviews and updates internal practices to achieve BIC standards.
    3. Manage the credit and collections team to ensure monthly cash goals are achieved.
    4. Ensure adequate credit reviews are in place for current and future customers. 
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    1. Support the annual budget process by compiling & analyzing data and proposing a plan specifically for the Cash Flow and Balance Sheet statements. 
  • Financial Statement Analysis
    1. Analyze the monthly financial results against budget (specifically for Cash Flow and Balance Sheet) and identify areas of action to drive results to target.
  • Other 
    1. Annually renew records for government compliance. EX) SAM.GOV registration. 
    2. Miscellaneous projects as assigned.

 

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in progressive finance roles - Required 
  • 8+ years of leading a high-performing finance team with the ability to drive and support change and transformation - Required 
  • Strong knowledge of revenue accounting standards (ASC 606) - Required 
  • Prior audit experience at a Big 4 or large regional firm - Preferred 
  • Experience in a software and services company (SaaS and healthcare industry a plus) – Preferred
  • M&A evaluation, diligence, integration experience - Preferred
