Summary
The Senior Manager - Ocean Carrier Services position will lead Hyundai Glovis’ PCTC operations across the U.S. and Canada, overseeing vessel planning, cost control, and terminal coordination. This role manages a regional operations team and develops high-level strategies to optimize port performance, reduce costs, and support key OEM customers. The ideal candidate will also play a critical role in expanding capabilities in H/H and Breakbulk cargo handling, supporting Glovis’ growth in diversified cargo services across North America.
Responsibilities
• Provide executive-level oversight of Hyundai Glovis’ end-to-end PCTC operations across the U.S. and Canadian coasts,
ensuring optimal vessel flow, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction
◦ Lead the design and execution of strategic vessel rotation plans for cargo arriving from Asia, Mexico, Europe, and Africa,
balancing operational constraints with commercial priorities and long-term service commitments
◦ Direct a regionally distributed team of operations professionals, fostering a performance-driven culture that emphasizes
precision, responsiveness, and continuous improvement
◦ Oversee the allocation of port resources and labor deployment by working with stevedores, terminals, and service providers to
align daily execution with strategic KPIs
◦ Act as the key architect for cost control strategies, proactively identifying systemic inefficiencies and deploying data-driven
solutions to reduce avoidable expenses across port operations.
◦ Collaborate cross-functionally with the commercial team, Cost management team in Korea, and inland logistics teams in GUS
to ensure full visibility and accountability for all cost centers within vessel operations
◦ Establish and monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) such as berth productivity, port dwell times, and cost per
unit, and develop executive-level reporting tools for internal stakeholders
◦ Serve as the central escalation point for complex operational issues, providing senior-level guidance and decision-making to
maintain service reliability and protect customer relationships
• Cultivate and manage senior-level relationships with stevedores, port authorities, terminal operators, and logistics vendors to
enhance operational collaboration and ensure long-term capacity and service alignment
◦ Monitor and analyze competitive intelligence, including logistics practices of other OEMs and carriers, to proactively adapt
Glovis’ operations to shifting market conditions
◦ Lead or sponsor strategic port development initiatives, including the identification and activation of new gateway ports capable
of supporting automotive, breakbulk, and high & heavy cargo flows
◦ Engage directly with port authorities and economic development agencies to advocate for infrastructure improvements, secure
vendor access, and align public resources with Glovis’ operational needs
◦ Support business continuity planning by building alternate routing models and scalable logistics solutions that improve network
resilience
◦ Serve as a strategic operations liaison to key customers such as Hyundai, Kia, GM, and Ford, aligning internal capabilities with
evolving client expectations and service-level requirements
◦ Mentor and develop regional operations team members to build the next generation of PCTC and maritime logistics leaders
through knowledge transfer and targeted professional growth
◦ Contribute to defining and implementing best practices, SOPs, and training programs to enhance execution quality and
decision-making
◦ Collaborate with IT to improve operational tools and systems for greater efficiency and scalability
◦ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation within the operations team
◦ Other duties as assigned
Compensation
$118,000-$134,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)
