About the Position
Haverford College is seeking a dedicated Registered Dietitian to support the health and wellness of our students. The Registered Dietitian plays a leading role with the Dining Services staff in assessing and enhancing campus dining options, supporting wellness education and programming., and advising students with specific dietary needs and restrictions. The Registered Dietitian also evaluates students’ nutritional statuses, provides individualized nutrition counseling, and develops personalized care plans to support students with food-related allergies. As a campus-wide resource, the Registered Dietitian collaborates across the Haverford College community to support student well-being and promotes nutritional awareness.

This position is positioned in Dining Services and frequently collaborates with colleagues in the Dean of the College Division, including Student Health Services, Access and Disability Services (ADS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Case Management, Residential Education and Student Engagement (RESE), and Athletics to provide holistic care for students, particularly those with diagnosed eating disorders or disordered eating behaviors.

Primary Responsibilities

Menu Review and Development:

  • Conduct evidence-based nutritional assessments of on-campus food options
  • Assist Menu Committee in developing and revising menus to increase nutritional value of food options
  • Review and analyzes all Dining Services recipes and manage allergen labeling
  • Investigate allergic reactions to on-campus foods and work with Dining Services to rectify issues of concern

Student Counseling and Support:

  • Review summer “special dietary needs” forms and communicate with incoming students and families to provide guidance and support
  • Counsel and support students individually and/or in groups regarding nutritional assessment, body image, eating disorders, weight management, and medical diets
  • Provide meal plan-specific guidance for individual students with dietary restrictions and/or registered accommodations
  • Collaborate with ADS and Residential Education staff to recommend housing accommodations for students with special dietary needs
  • Support students with planning for alternative food options when dining services are closed
  • Collaborate with campus colleagues to provide services for students with diagnosed eating disorders and/or demonstrating disordered eating behaviors
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and medical standards

Educational Programming and Outreach:

  • Provide educational information for new students and families in navigating the dining program, including lactose free, gluten free, and healthy choice options
  • Develop and deliver campus-wide educational programming and wellness initiatives in partnership with other departments (e.g., Health Services, CAPS, Athletics)
  • Offer nutrition education and training for student leaders and staff in Athletics


Line of Report: The Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist reports to the Director of Dining Services and frequently collaborates with the directors of Access and Disability Services, Athletics, Counseling, and Health Services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or a related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) and/or Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) credential with Pennsylvania licensure
  • 3 years of professional experience
