Overview

The mission of the Yale Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit (ADRU) is to make advancements in treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders that lead to early diagnosis, delaying of disease progression, and ultimately, a cure. We aim to achieve these goals through collaborative efforts between participants, their study partners, researchers, and clinicians. We are committed to conducting high quality and impactful research, educating research trainees, and caring for our research participants and their families. We are seeking a Research Nurse for the Yale ADRU to coordinate therapeutic trials for individuals with normal cognition and symptomatic or presymptomatic Alzheimer’s disease, and other cognitive disorders and to administer intravenous and other parenteral investigational treatments. Primary duties include coordination of clinical therapeutic trials under the direction of the Principal Investigators while ensuring adherence to protocols, university procedures, regulatory standards, and GCP guidelines. The Research Nurse may assist with the preparation of research protocols, and protocol renewals and amendments for submission to the investigational review board (IRB).
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hrs., 8:30 AM – 5PM. Early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be required.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Clinical Research Proficiency and Compliance: Proven experience with clinical studies.
2. Proficiency with Intravenous and other Parenteral Administration of Study Medications.
3. Self-Motivation, Organization, and Detail-Orientation: Demonstrates self-motivation, independence, consistency, and reliability. Shows excellent attendance, punctuality, and organizational skills. Pays close attention to detail and communicate effectively.
4. Effective Under Pressure with Communication and Leadership: Proven ability to work efficiently and independently under pressure, prioritizing tasks effectively. Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, along with leadership qualities.
5. Technical Proficiency in Research Tools: Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with electronic data collection tools including iPads.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
1. Research experience with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Evaluates and assesses subject’s suitability for inclusion in studies; develops and modifies procedures according to study findings; recommends changes to the study protocol to coincide with study goals and objectives. 2. Develops and implements procedures and data quality assurance standards for safety monitoring components of studies. 3. Contributes to designing activities, policies and procedures to improve day to day efficiency of the recruitment and assessment components of the study and to ensure that staff members perform activities within established research protocol. 4. Arranges patient enrollment, determines patient eligibility and obtains informed consent. 5. Develops study subject referral sources; designs and develops outreach programs. 6. Collaborates with multidisciplinary researchers to coordinate research programs that integrate new advances in clinical trials. 7. Delegates tasks and supervises the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required License(s) or Certification(s) Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or Connecticut license eligible.
