Field Application Engineer, Aerospace & Defense

Remote (US only) | Full Time | Unlimited

Main Purpose

The Aerospace & Defense vertical represents an important growth opportunity, leveraging our industry-leading products to expand relationships with both new and existing customers.

As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be the key technical interface between the company and assigned strategic customers. This role involves engaging with customers to promote and apply our comprehensive product offerings across a wide range of applications. You will work closely with key accounts, supporting them through technical interactions, and contributing to product design and development, from early supplier involvement to final implementation.

Main tasks & responsibilities

• Frequent customer visits to gain knowledge about customers' applications
• Propose "fit for purpose" solutions
• Handle technical inquiries (Non-Standard Inquiries)
• Support prototype and pre-series production products
• Participate in development projects with HUBER+SUHNER
• Handle customer complaints on products and solutions
• Provide support to internal and external sales
• Provide support to Engineering for non-standard, new, complex product builds
• Maintain good relationships with LF/RF/FO technology to ensure that new product releases are communicated throughout the company and that constructive feedback is relayed correctly
• Adhere to all regulations and guidelines contained in the Global Management System.

Education, skills & experience

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Experience

• Minimum 5 years' relevant as a Field Applications Engineer or in a technical customer-facing role, preferably within the Aerospace & Defense sector.
• Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience with RF Microwave technologies preferred

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information
• Strong understanding of RF theory and applications as it relates to Aerospace & Defense market
• General knowledge of HUBER+SUHNER products
• General understanding of programs, awards and how it relates to our customer base
• Ability to conceptualize and present innovative electro/mechanical solutions
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Self- starter who is driven to succeed and is excited by results-based performance management with minimal task related guidance

• Ability to travel as required in support of position objectives (up to 30% depending on customer demand)
• Self-motivated and ability to prioritize tasks
• Acute customer focus
• Ability to calculate pricing and provide customer proposition
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution
• Ability to work individually as well as part of a remote team
