Financial Advisory Services Specialist I (Insurance Focused)

Purpose
To provide and grow the local delivery of financial advisory services to members within assigned work area. To engage branch employees on all financial advisory topics, general and complex. To support financial advisory services network through training, mentoring, and regular electronic correspondence.
Dimensions
This person meets with members to determine financial advisory needs and presents solutions utilizing FAS products and services accordingly as needed. Works directly with the FAS DM to provide the effective delivery of Financial Advisory Services.
Duties
Proficient in advanced financial planning topics.
Proficient in determining member’s financial advisory needs.
Develops advisory relationships with members through frequent communication and education, utilizing multiple delivery channels.
Assists members with obtaining/opening FAS products and accounts as needed to meet the members’ financial goals, objectives, and needs.
Coordinates and engages other specialists as needed to assist with complex scenarios and ensure member needs are being met holistically.
Helps train branch, MLO, and/or MSS employees on financial advisory services to help facilitate quality referrals.
Effectively works referrals to deliver FAS services to members
Recognizes employees who show an aptitude towards Financial Advisory Services
Frequently communicates with FAS DM about activities and results within assigned area.
Actively looks for ways to improve the overall process of the delivery of financial advisory services and relays suggestions to the FAS DM.
Acts in a professional manner on and off the job.
Sets a good example for all employees in the areas of time management, member relations and punctuality.
Continually increases knowledge of all services.
Communicates and shares best practices with other FAS Specialists.
Attends relevant conferences and reads industry publications.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Must have four-year degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate of Arts or Associate of Science
degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP).
Must be licensed in Life Insurance
Must be fully licensed in Investments (SIE/6/63/65 OR SIE/7/66) OR hold the ATFA designation.
Must have 5-6+ years of experience as an Insurance, Investment or Trust Representative.
Must have 3-5+ years of holistic advising/planning experience (able to have informed conversations with members on various financial planning topics and provide holistic guidance)
Must have 0-2+ years of experience in the credit union industry
Must maintain all necessary licenses and satisfy all continuing education requirements.
Has demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills; and exemplifies a supervisory and leadership role.
Must be self-motivated.
Employee possesses, and has demonstrated, an aptitude for meeting people, developing member confidence, respect of members and co-workers, trust of Credit Union.
Must be able to quickly adapt to changes in daily work based on immediate needs.
Must have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Be discreet in performance of duties and hold information about member accounts in strict confidence.
Work additional hours when necessary to execute responsibilities.
Must complete training, modules and education as directed by management.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.
Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.
Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager.
Regional travel required. Must possess vehicle and valid driver’s license.
Job Environment
Office setting with physical proximity to other employees.
Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Some aspects of job will be performed at off-site premises.

Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.
Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
Must be able to communicate clearly in answering members questions.
Must listen well to ascertain the services needed by each member.
Climbing stairs may be necessary in branches that are housed on more than one floor. Visual acuity is required to complete necessary documentation
