Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Alumni Communications and Center develops, executes, and analyzes communications to alumni to capture their interest, encourage their involvement, and garner their support for the university. This position also serves as a central distribution point for alumni communications. Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for managing and maintaining the alumni website and social media channels. This role also provides operational support for the Anna W. Ngai Alumni Center (ANAC).
Key Responsibilities
- Alumni Communications and Marketing: Executes, analyze and oversee the alumni communications program which includes, but is not limited to: print materials (including the brochures and flyers), electronic communications to our alumni constituency, monthly alumni events e-communication, segmented alumni e-communications, distribution to campus communicators of alumni collaterals, alumni spotlights and social media.
- Oversee daily operations of the Anna W. Ngai Alumni Center. Serve as the liaison for event support as needed for booked events in the center.
- Export and distribution of data from all alumni engagement outlets.
- Support division-wide events and activities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of social media channels and digital tools, including content management systems, which are used to craft and promote compelling alumni spotlights. Strong computer literacy spans Word, Excel, and Outlook, and familiarity with computerized fundraising systems, particularly the Ellucian Advance Web platform. Experience in higher education fundraising and ability to research alumni backgrounds to create accurate, engaging narratives that highlight their achievements. Ability to work independently with sound judgment and discretion, while also thriving in collaborative environments with a consistently positive attitude. Strong interpersonal skills that enable professional interaction with donors, faculty, administrators, alumni, and students. Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a talent for problem-solving, planning, and managing day-to-day activities efficiently.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, hospitality management or related field is preferred.

- Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,598 - $6,250 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,598 - $8,318 per month.

Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
