Sr Associate Scientist, NGS and Genetic Technologies

About This Role

We are seeking a bright, skilled, and highly motivated Sr Associate Scientist to join the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) & Genetic Technologies Lab in the Genomic Targets Biology group. You will provide NGS and other genetic data to support research, early development, and manufacturing. 

What You’ll Do

• Generate NGS sequencing libraries from RNA and DNA samples both manually and using automation. Quantify and QC libraries using LabChip, Bioanalyzer, and/or qPCR
• Generate high quality data on Illumina instruments (NovaSeq, MiSeq)
• Generate sequencing libraries and data for specialized protocols including long read platforms, and single cell RNA-seq
• Independently troubleshoot issues with library preparation and sequencer operation and deliver data within required timelines
• Collaborate with team to optimize RNA/DNA-seq processes
• Attend project meetings, work with multiple teams across diverse projects to generate data within needed timelines

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline with 2+ years’ experience OR Master's degree in scientific discipline with 0+ years
• 2+ years’ experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, primer design, cloning, DNA & RNA extraction, or ddPCR
• Experience/familiarity with sequencing library preparation, library QC
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle projects with large sample numbers
• Ability to multitask and carry forward multiple projects

Preferred Skills

• Operation of Illumina sequencing instruments
• Experience with single cell RNA seq and/or long read seq platforms 
• Experience with a common automation platforms (BioMek, Tecan, SciClone, etc).
