JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Rovniak Lab at Penn State College of Medicine within the Department of Medicine, Hershey, PA, is seeking a Human Research Technologist for a randomized controlled trial to help engage older adults with osteoarthritis in no-cost exercise opportunities available nationwide. Our project will aim to connect older adults across the United States with supportive and convenient exercise opportunities that can help them to improve their physical and mental wellness. This work is being done with funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). This position will involve working in a research support role, assisting the Research Project Manager.

Responsibilities include: (1) assisting with data collection for a large trial with over 1,400 participants, including setting up data collection forms, data quality control, and cleaning and preparing data for analyses and reports; (2) assisting in developing and refining program intervention protocols, including finalizing reproducible intervention-delivery scripts and procedures and implementing standardized and rigorous quality control practices; (3) assisting with the submission of IRB protocols and modifications; (4) assisting with conducting stakeholder advisory board meetings; (5) assisting with the dissemination of project results through diverse research, community, and social media channels; and (5) other functions as assigned by Dr. Rovniak and/or the Research Project Manager.

The ideal candidate will: (1) have prior experience using data management software such as REDCap, SPSS, or SAS; (2) have prior experience with IRB submissions; (3) have strong writing skills; (4) have the ability to use Office Professional and other software to create attractive Powerpoint presentations, handouts, and other project materials as needed; (5) have the ability to lead meetings with community stakeholders using Zoom videoconferencing software; (6) be fluently bilingual in both English and Spanish, and (7) have prior experience or interest in physical activity or health promotion research. The ideal candidate will also have the following traits: detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong organizational skills.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Associate's Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
