About the Summer Internship Program
The Summer Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students and beginning professionals with practical experience in a specific area of museum work at The Museum of Modern Art. Interns participate in weekly professional development activities designed to increase understanding of the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and departments. The Museum hosts approximately 25 interns in various departments across our institution. Participants may arrange for academic credit through their school, but it is not a requirement.
MoMA Summer 2026 internships require a commitment of four days per week. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. One must have a minimum of two years of college completed (or equivalent) by June 2026 in order to apply.

Department Projects & Tasks
The intern will support the Retail, E-commerce and overall Retail department's long range plan to increase revenue. Tasks include e-commerce home page A/B Test Analysis, designing A/B test for home page optimization, calculating sample size, running significance tests, and presenting findings and recommendations. The intern will also support cart abandonment prediction by building models to identify users most likely to abandon their cart, and building an inventory forecasting tool that to predict inventory levels and recommend order quantities.
The intern will have an understanding of the following areas:
- Database Management & Querying: Foundational understanding of relational databases, and proficiency in SQL for extracting, cleansing, and aggregating data from large-scale datasets
- Statistical Analysis: Understanding of core statistical concepts, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and A/B testing
- Exploratory Data Analysis: Can conduct comprehensive exploratory analyses to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies
- Data Visualization & Storytelling: Strong skills in building and explaining data through visualization tools like charts, graphs, and dashboards, to convey analytical findings with actionable insights
- Retail Business Acumen: Basic understanding of core retail concepts (merchandising, inventory/supply chain, marketing, ecommerce). The intern will support the ongoing initiative to connect museum and retail data.
Department Skillset Requirements
Candidates who are current students or recent graduates of a Data Analytics or Business Administration program, with a concentration or experience in Consulting or Corporate Strategy. Pre-MBA Candidates are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in applying Finance or Corporate Strategy skills to a museum setting.
