About the role

Ice Cream Specialties (8419 Hanley Industrial Ct., St. Louis, MO 63144)  is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to support production in a food manufacturing and packaging facility. Position also includes maintaining plant utilities such as boiler, HVAC, air compressors, refrigeration compressors, anhydrous ammonia system, building and grounds maintenance, etc...

  • Shift: 11:00 pm-8:00 am (training may vary to teach you the most about our facility and the machines you'll be maintaining)
  • Location: Brentwood, MO
  • Job Type: Full-time, 90-day probationary period
  • Union: Teamsters Local 600; Must join the union after 30 days

Qualifications/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull products weighing up to fifty pounds out of confined spaces and occasionally having to lift product overhead.
  • Ability to stand, kneel climb ladders, and other physical requirements as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer drug test, alcohol screening, and physical exam.
  • 1 Year Maintenance Mechanic experience minimum
  • Electrical Experience
  • Troubleshooting machinery issues
  • Pneumatics & Program Logic Controllers Experience

Duties:

  • Good interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair/owner manuals, engineering specifications, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Maintenance on processing equipment, pipe fitting, welding, fabrication, carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installation of equipment.
  • Adjust and repair packaging equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Interface with Operations to minimize downtime and maximize plant reliability.
  • Work with both Outside Contractors and Plant Operations to ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently. 
  • Other responsibilities as requested.

Education Experience:

  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to read and speak English for safety purposes.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. 
  • Trade school completion for Electrical is a plus
