About the role

The Regional Finance Director serves as the senior financial leader for a portfolio of communities with moderate complexity, acting as the face of financial performance for the Regional Team. This role drives profitability and sustainable performance through deep financial insight, strategic guidance, and strong cross‑functional partnership. 

 

The Regional Finance Director possesses strong understanding of financial performance and the operational levers that drive results, including staffing, pricing, capital investment, and cash management. This role leads budgeting and forecasting strategy aligned to the annual business plan, partners closely with community and regional leaders to identify and execute improvement opportunities, and represents Finance in owner, board, and executive‑level discussions. 

 

This role serves as the primary conduit between the Region/Community and Accounting & Finance Centers of Excellence, ensuring consistent application of standards, timely escalation of issues, and adoption of best practices.

What You’ll Do:  

  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight for assigned communities, ensuring performance aligns with budget, financial goals, and cash management expectations.
  • Analyze financial results across the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow to clearly explain performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead structured financial reviews with community, regional, and executive leadership; present results to senior leadership, Boards, and ownership groups as appropriate.
  • Translate variances into clear, documented action plans with defined owners, timelines, and measurable outcomes; monitor execution and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, with strong understanding of the close cycle and accrual processes; escalate accounting, system, or reporting issues to the appropriate COE.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting strategy aligned to the annual business plan, partnering with Executive Directors, Department Heads, and Regional Teams.
  • Evaluate staffing changes and operational decisions through financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Conduct frequent forecast reviews and provide forward‑looking insights and model updates to the Financial Planning COE.
  • Hold leaders accountable to budget commitments by reinforcing expectations and ensuring timely course correction when performance deviates from plan.
  • Evaluate capital expenditure requests and strategic investment initiatives, providing ROI analysis and recommendations to support disciplined capital allocation.     
  • Develop deep understanding of community operations and regional priorities.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to Operations, Clinical, Human Resources, and Sales & Marketing leadership.          
  • Identify and help execute opportunities to improve efficiency, staffing effectiveness, pricing outcomes, and overall profitability.   
  • Connect communities to COE resources (pricing, capital, analytics, accounting) to elevate decision quality and execution.     
  • Navigate varying ownership and governance structures, including not‑for‑profit boards, third‑party owners, and company‑owned communities.     
  • Reinforce financial governance, internal controls, policy compliance, and audit readiness.  
  • Serve as Finance representative in complex discussions involving Boards, owners, residents, and internal stakeholders.
  • Approve financial qualifications, bad‑debt write‑offs, and other delegated financial decisions.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; or equivalent years of experience
  • 8-10 years experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or analytical roles
  • Ability to translate financial and operational data into operational action
  • Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and respond quickly during community or regional issues
