How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing state-of-the-art products for the utility inspection market, utilizing embedded vision system to create cutting edge complex designs. The Senior Electrical Engineer will design, debug, and test prototype components and circuit card assemblies while working in a cross-functional organization. Product designs involve the combination of motor control, analog, digital and High-Speed design. Senior Engineers may also provide work direction to other engineers, lead project teams, lead engineering wide process improvements, write standards as a subject matter expert and be a product owner.
The Senior Electrical Engineer role involves occasional travel and requires the ability to work within commercial and scientific teams. The Senior Electrical Engineer must be capable of high-level, project-oriented system design and analysis. The role requires the ability to take ownership of and be responsible for many simultaneous system deliverables. This includes project planning, design, implementation, testing, documentation, validation and support. He/she must be a graduate in an applicable field with significant industry experience or equivalent.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
- Design and Development:
- Design and layout complex circuitry containing brushed and brushless (BLDC) motor controls.
- Designs complex electronic circuits, subsystems, systems, and products.
- Layout circuits and systems vary in complexity: may include analog, digital, microprocessor, high voltage/power circuitry, and motor control circuitry at both the schematic capture and PCB layout stages of development.
- Writes test plans and performs evaluation testing during the design process. These electronic components may interface with mechanical components.
- Technical Support and Analysis:
- Provides technical support for existing products, including quality assessment, failure analysis, and product improvement activities.
- Project Management and Leadership:
- Provides technical guidance, serves as a point of contact or business liaison, prepares briefings for senior management, and assists in problem resolution specific to the program/project.
- Assists in the review and approval of subcontractor plans, including specifications and objectives, work breakdown structure, detailed scope descriptions and schedules, risk management, milestone descriptions, budgets and staffing decisions.
- Participates in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products, and support of existing products.
- Leads project teams and provides work direction to other engineers.
- Leads engineering-wide process improvements.
- Lead NPI/NPD evolution of systems and products.
- Acts as a product owner and writes standards as a subject matter expert.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Writes manufacturing and test procedures and reports.
