Job Description

The Supplier Engineer is a key member of the supplier engineering group, which is part of Insulet’s Procurement organization. Insulet manages a global supply chain and sources precision custom components and commodities from around the world for use in its devices. The PCBA Supplier Engineer works closely with peers and leaders in internal Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, to implement PCBA automation equipment at suppliers, execute PCBA validation projects, resolve business-critical technical issues, troubleshoot issues on the manufacturing floor, and investigate corrective actions in response to quality issues across the supply base. The ideal candidate has experience working with suppliers of custom PCBA’s for use in medical devices Candidates should enjoy the factory setting and be comfortable interfacing with and influencing supplier personnel ranging from shop floor operators to leadership.

Responsibilities:

 Contribute/ support to  strategic plan for PCBA capacity with supply chain team, develop budget for 5 year strat plan and execute to plan

Be the primary technical liaison between our PCBA supplier, R+D, quality and sourcing

Primary extended team member for Ops R+D changes to PCBA, software, hardware

Execute equipment validations of automation. Author validation reports and process through product lifecycle management portal.

Identify, justify, and implement continuous improvement projects related to PCBA or other electronics

Maintain within-hours response time to Operations technical escalations.

Assist in the containment, investigation, corrective and preventive action of quality issues relating to PCBA’s

Establish and maintain relationships with Tier 1suppliers; communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in supplier processes.

Knowledge of Tier 2 suppliers for electronics and PCB manufacturing.

Lead and influence cross-functional teams toward continuous improvement goals.

Required Education and Experience:

BS Engineering degree (Manufacturing/

Mechanical , Electrical,)

3+ years PCBA manufacturing experience required

Preferred Experience:

High volume medical device experience in a cGMP environment strongly preferred

Proven track record using common root cause analysis & process improvement tools (A3, 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, DOE, regression, etc.)

Validation experience i.e. IQ/OQ/PQ

Base knowledge of battery designs and battery manufacturing.

Ability to assess the design for manufacturability and recommend solutions to ensure product design meets manufacturability requirements for high volume manufacturing. 

Working knowledge of PCBA test methods and requirements

Strong statistical competency in popular software (Minitab, JMP).

Electrical / PCBA drawing literacy and knowledge

Strong Written and verbal communication skills

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $89,850.00 - $134,775.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
