Job Description
The Aerospace Senior Lead Auditor performs third-party audits per SGS Knowledge procedures and the requirements of the applicable standard(s). Collects and analyzes sufficient information to provide a recommendation for certification. Has an authority for the control and performance of auditing activities, including planning and, control of other members of Audit teams. Makes relevant decisions regarding the audit process and informs SGS Knowledge on issues resolution outside the audit process.
Note: The AS Senior Lead Auditor will be trained to provide technical support to ANAB Accredited Aerospace program to comply with the requirements of AS9104-1A and ISO 17021 including conducting technical and proposal reviews and supporting the AS business development activities. The candidate will assume AS Product Manager position upon completion of the relevant trainings.
- Perform certification audits for AS9100 and AS9120 as a AS Senior Lead Auditor and ensure that such duties are performed in an efficient and commercially expedient way
- Upon evidence gained during audits, provides with determination whether or not registration should be recommended or allowed to continue.
- Assimilates, understands and operates the SGS Certification System in all auditing activities. Liaises with the Director of Technical (I&T) and Technical Accreditation Manager regarding changes to its design and implementation.
- Controls/ oversees activities of teams of Auditors during the audit, as needed.
- Collaborates with teams of Auditors during the auditing activities.
- Strives to provide customers with sufficient audit experience to cover the whole of SGS’s Knowledge accredited activities.
- Assists in the training of other Auditors and Lead Auditors during planned audits or during other training functions.
- Actively participates in witness audits by SGS or accreditation bodies.
- Undertake any other activities as directed by the Product Manager, Director of Technical (I&T) and Technical Accreditation Manager.
- Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Interface with current clients and support Operations, as needed
- Work closely with the VP Industrial and Transportation to support the business development activities.
- Attend quarterly Registration Management Committee meetings (Americas Aerospace Quality Group)
- Internal training will be provided in the following areas for the candidate to grow into AS Product Manager position:
- Accreditation Requirements/ ISO 17021
- Technical and Proposal Review
- AS Program Documentation
- OASIS database
- Other SGS scheme specific requirements/ technical KPIs
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree Engineering, Science, etc. or in a related discipline
- 7+ years of experience in the Certification industry
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
LICENSES/ CERTIFICATIONS
- Lead Auditor Certification in AS9100 and AS9120 (Required)
- Experienced Aerospace Auditor authenticated in OASIS database
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES
- Organizational skills and the need to stay on task and meet multiple deadlines
- In depth aerospace industry knowledge - manufacturing and parts distribution
- Commercially oriented to understand the clients and business needs
- Applicant must have been directly involved in Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Quality or Process Control for a major airframe manufacturer, prime supplier, auxiliary equipment supplier and/or appropriate official civil, military or space organization, such as National Aviation Authorities.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams)
TRAVEL
- Up to 70% of the time for Third Party Customer audits, Aerospace Industry meetings, relevant conferences
