This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a WSP Federal Programs - Sr. Design Manager for our Washington, DC office.  Primary role is to grow the WSP Federal Programs Property & Buildings Architectural portfolio and capabilities with Federal Agencies including DoD (USACE/NAVFAC/USAF), GSA, OBO, NPS, VA and others.   Be involved in projects with our Federal Programs Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

The WSP Federal Programs - Sr. Design Manager will effectively lead in execution of programming, planning and design with our team of AEP professionals in the delivery and execution of federal projects. Projects will include Design & Design/Build Delivery methods. 

Assist in growing the design practice will require a holistic look at staff, capabilities and resources we currently have, identifying gaps and solving for our needs.  The WSP Federal Programs - Sr. Design Manager shall work closely with the Project Directors, Project Managers, as well as Planning Team Director.  In addition, the WSP Federal Programs - Sr. Design Manager has an important role in supporting the Client and Program Managers on various federal civilian contracts to assist them in staffing delivery teams, identification of SME's and general business development strategies when requested.  The WSP Federal Programs - Sr. Design Manager will work closely with and will report to the Property & Buildings Architectural Discipline Leader.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, or related degree
  • 12+ years’ experience in consulting, engineering, program management and/or business development to the federal government (DOD).
  • 5+ years' experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering/architectural teams.
  • Professional registration
  • Due to client requirements, ability to obtain a US Government issued Secret level Security Clearance.
  • Strong knowledge and overall understanding of federal clients; US contracting industry; knowledge of federal budgeting, industry business drivers and motivators.
  • Experience leading strategy and marketing for Federal acquisitions; demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams and a variety of stakeholders, and in developing and executing strategies to deliver business results,
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of servicing client needs and effective program planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing large and complex opportunities and pursuits.
  • Strong business development skills with attention to win strategies and differentiators.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate and under limited time constraints.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Active US Government issued Secret clearance.
  • Master's Degree.
