Description
The Public Programs department works to position NYPL’s midtown campus as a vibrant hub of intellectual and creative activity, with a wide range of talks, performances and other cultural experiences that further the library's mission, reflect and highlight its core strengths, and attract, engage and inspire the widest possible audiences.
The Public Programs Page provides administrative and event support to the Public Programs department. Duties will include staffing events, assisting with metrics and reporting, and communicating with the public about programs. The Public Programs Page will also perform related duties and special projects as needed.
You will have access to the Library Page Fellowship Program as a Library Page, a career growth development program that empowers youth as they shape their careers. The program provides resources to help develop career readiness skills, explore career goals, and provide on-the-job coaching, training, and mentorship.
The library page position is scheduled for 19 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of a Page supervisor, the Library Page:- Assist with event set-up, check-in, and ushering.
- Assist with event outreach.
- Assist in updating attendance metrics and sending post-event surveys.
- Assist in preparation of event collateral.
- Maintain supply inventory.
- Appropriately respond to inquiries/comments from the public.
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications- Must have High school diploma or GED.
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited university.
- Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law
- Available to work evenings at least once per week.
- Previous experience or interest in customer service.
- Previous research experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
- An ability to prioritize and organize work, accurately and efficiently perform detailed tasks, and follow through to achieve deadlines.
