Job Overview
Mainspring is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern with mechanical engineering and CAD design experience, interested in developing manufacturing and assembly processes, equipment, tools and fixtures. You will work under the guidance of our engineering team to transition our breakthrough new technology into volume manufacturing. You will be hands-on in both design and on the shop floor at our Pilot Manufacturing facility in Menlo Park California, directly involved in setting up and optimizing our final assembly and test processes

Job Overview
Mainspring is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern with mechanical engineering and CAD design experience, interested in developing manufacturing and assembly processes, equipment, tools and fixtures. Responsibilities
- Document and implement assembly process sequence, visual assembly instructions and traceability documentation of a manufacturing process
- Develop and validate new manufacturing processes for various subsystems, propose and implement work standards and process productivity improvements
- Use SolidWorks to design tooling & fixtures, release to fabrication 2D drawing with GD&T for individual parts and assemblies
- Coordinate fabrication of released parts in-house on 3D printers or through outside machine shops
- Build, test and validate tooling and assembly fixtures and workstations
- Detail tasks, time, quality parameters and process recipe
Qualifications
- College student in their last 2 years of BS or in MS program in Mechanical
- Engineering, Mechatronic, Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience designing, including GD&T, from concept to detailing tools and fixtures
- Hands-on mechanical assembly experience and knowledge of machining and various fabrication techniques (CNC/manual machining, welding, sheet metal forming, etc.)
- The ability to communicate well with other departments about the tracking and management of projects. (supply chain, quality, R&D, etc.)
