Exercise Physiologist

 Inova Center for Personalized Health is looking to add an Exercise Physiologist to our growing team. We are located at 8100 Innovation Park Drive, Fairfax, VA. This is a full time, 40 hours a week opportunity. Ideal candidate will have experience with Cardiac and/or Pulmonary patients. Strong fitness training background and ability to teach classes.

Exercise Physiologist Job Responsibilities:

 

• Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidity and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review.
• Develops Individual Treatment Plans through physical assessment and testing to include exercise and strength training programs, patient education and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes for each patient.
• Administers or supports diagnostic testing for patients.
• Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation.
• Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation.
• Provides validation of clinical decisions for other team members.

Exercise Physiologist  Additional Requirements:

• Bachelors degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise science or Kinesiology
• Relevant clinical experience in a hospital, clinical setting or clinical internship completed through education coursework
• BLS from American Heart Association within 6 months
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support- within 6 months
• American College of Sports Medicine - Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM CEP) - within 12 months
• Certified Cardia Rehabilitation Professional or American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation - Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (AACVPR CCRP) within 12 months.
• NASM - an equivalent advanced certification within 1 year, to be determined by hiring unit.
