General Job Description


The Compliance Director is responsible for institutional control of all athletic programs relative to GMAC and NCAA legislation as required by NCAA Division II membership. They are also responsible for the monitoring of systems that assist the University in complying with all University, GMAC, and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics operations. The Compliance Director will personally coordinate and direct coaches and monitor the recruitment, admission, continuing and initial eligibility of student-athletes in all sports programs.


 Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversight of roster management in the Athletic Department’s sports programs. Advises staff regarding student-athlete progress toward degree requirements.
  • Adheres to NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations; supports sports programs and student-athletes in understanding and interpreting NCAA and conference rules and regulations; assists with documentation of potential NCAA violations.
  • Assists in managing issues related to prospective student-athletes eligibility and amateur status.
  • Maintains necessary student-athlete data in the Compliance Assistant program; maintains student-athlete annual compliance-related paperwork and tracks all student-athlete employment and amateurism issues; maintains and updates institutional compliance manual.
  • Monitors recruiting logs, playing and practice season logs, official visits, and complimentary ticket process; oversees camps and clinics.
  • Maintains ongoing dialogue related to compliance with institutional staff and administrators outside athletics and identifies the responsibilities of key administrators for implementing and supervising compliance systems.
  • Monitors continuing eligibility, working extensively with the Office of the Registrar.
  • Works extensively with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure that student scholarship awards and financial aid fall within guidelines set by the University and the NCAA.
  • Administers submission of NCAA and GMAC forms and other documents related to compliance and develops procedures for self-reporting violations and processing eligibility issues.
  • Obtains documentation and works with the NCAA Eligibility Center to verify eligibility for all incoming student-athletes.
  • Devices and implements systems of communication, organization, documentation, and evaluation to establish accountability in all areas of eligibility certification, financial aid, recruitment, general eligibility, and other compliance areas.
  • Provide vision and leadership for the University NCAA Compliance. This includes the maintenance of systems and mechanisms for rules monitoring and staff education.
  • Provide a timely and accurate system of completing mandated forms, reports, assessments, and audits as required by various agencies.
  • Provide leadership, training, and evaluation of compliance staff members. Will plan lead work, delegate work, and evaluate work/performance as necessary.
  • Provides regular compliance-related educational information to coaches, athletic staff, student-athletes, key University personnel, and external constituents.
  • Representation of the athletic department at University, conference, and national groups as appropriate. Assure the timely investigation, resolution, and self-reporting of rules infractions as they occur. Oversee the administration of financial aid and scholarships.
  • Administers student financial aid programs for the athletic department.
  • Manage team works and compliance software (ARMS)
  • Manage new employee compliance orientation.
  • Primary contact for NCAA transfer portal.
  • Compile and process all NCAA reporting.
  • Ability to work under-time sensitive deadlines.
  • Assist with game management as needed.
  • Accessible after work hour
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 



Requirements

 

DIRECTOR OF NCAA Compliance  

Education:


Bachelor’s degree plus two or more years of related experience.

Other:

  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate transportation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other departments and employees.
  • Knowledge of NCAA
