Salary Range: $18.00- $25.00, per hour

Reports to: General Manager 

 

Summary/objective: Under general supervision, perform grounds maintenance and gardening work.

Essential functions

Duties:

Greet each guest, enthusiastically and with a smile to create a friendly positive experience.
Conforms to AAA Four Diamond Standards.
Responsible for purchasing plants, gourds, pumpkins, etc. from approved vendors.
Plants, weeds, rakes and waters grounds; transplants and mulches as necessary.
Prunes annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees using the appropriate techniques according to the plant.
Edges, mows, fertilize lawns, and monitor the watering needs of the grounds; ensures efficient operation of irrigation systems.
Sets scheduling of irrigation time clocks for a water-efficient irrigation schedule.
Implements landscape improvement/renovation projects using appropriate plants and landscape materials.
Calculates amounts and applies pesticides according to industry safety procedures; understands and follows material safety data sheets and labels and required emergency treatments for specific chemicals.
Identifies common landscape weeds and applies control measures.
Maintains property pathways and roads, patching potholes, cleaning drains, and sweeping debris.
Uses leaf blowers, turf vacs, other tools, or hands to remove trash and debris from grounds.
Do not disturb guest during early morning hours by using power equipment.
Operates power equipment such as, but not limited to, edger, hedge trimmers, chain saws, and tractor/loaders as necessary.
Sets up for social events (i.e., weddings).
Performs minor repairs to equipment and irrigation sprinklers; may assist in the installation and maintenance of drip irrigation systems; may repair impact sprinkler heads in lawn.
Winterize all outdoor and indoor water pipes.
Maintain and adequately inspect power equipment.
Performs snow removal as required.
May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; order parts as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Fully aware of and comply with Inns policies and procedures as identified in the procedure manual and handbook.
Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are based outdoors.
Associates may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
Noise level in work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Education and Years of Experience:

High School Degree or GED required
One year gardening and grounds keeping duties.
Experience maintaining large grounds preferred.

Additional eligibility requirements

Maintains all current licenses and certifications
Able to operate a variety of gas powered equipment and sharpen hand tools safely.
Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
Maintains high standards for work area and appearance and presents self in highly professional manner to staff and guest.
Available days, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
