Description
SUMMARY
The Summer Group Camp Speaker “sets the table” for the various discussions that will take place in each church’s individual group. At the beginning of each day, the speaker introduces the theme and begins to ask the questions that will become central conversations to the day’s activities. In the evening, the speaker recaps the theme, tying it in with the content of the Bible study and with the evening experience. The speaker is tasked with building a bridge between all the day’s experiences and the important conversations that will take place within each group around the fire at night’s end. The speaker succeeds when the Gospel is preached, and the door is opened for ministries to flourish during their time at camp (and beyond). The person in this position shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior towards colleagues, guests, supervisors, volunteers, and guests. Regular attendance is essential for this position. All team members are expected to maintain an environment of professionalism, safety, and fun. As a speaker, you will be trained in all summer needs to be able to assist and help when needed in areas of camp. *If a speaker is contracted on a weekly basis training subject to change. *
Throughout the summer you may be also asked to assist in daily behind-the-scenes programming and or work to keep camp running smoothly including cleaning, dishwashing and necessary work projects as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Help support and grow personal relationship with Jesus Christ through speaking.
- Have ability to communicate and work with campers ages 12-18 and volunteers of high school age, during their various camp and or group activities.
- Bring excitement for both morning and evening chapels to help engage all that attend to hear Gods word.
- Being available to build authentic relationships with campers and or groups throughout the day and evening.
- Help build excitement for the opening day of camp each week and conduct oneself in such a way as to encourage the transfer of trust onto oneself by the parents and campers.
- Work as a team member with the other BDC staff and volunteers toward the overall goals of the camp.
- Be a positive role model to the summer staff in his/her spiritual walk, self-respect, love and consideration of others, enthusiasm, and work ethic.
- Guide and encourage staff and campers' participation in all camp activities and functions, through attitude, speech, and action.
- Strive to meet the spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical needs of the campers and volunteers.
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for presenting the "Good News" of Jesus Christ.
- Be aware of the health and well-being of the campers and or groups and report any problems to the Program Team.
- Being available and flexible for as needed projects or needs in other departments and programs
- Respond to emergencies in accordance with training and camp policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be 20+ years of age or older.
- Speaking experience in the context of ministry
- Have a sincere love for the Lord and be committed to the Lordship of Christ in every area of their life.
- Have a burden and a love for all people and a desire to see them totally committed to the Lordship of Jesus.
- Be willing to support the philosophy and goals of Warm Beach Camp Ministries and Black Diamond Camp through attitude, speech, and action.
- Be willing to accept supervision and guidance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
