Purpose
As a member of the Information Technology Group within the Cockrell School of Engineering, actively support a fleet of 100+ AV Systems, 60% of which are classrooms. Collaboratively design and physically build classroom AV systems and provide outstanding customer support during events.
Responsibilities
Proficient in using hand and power tools, including soldering irons, crimpers, multimeters, signal generators, and testers. Ability to work independently or as part of a team to troubleshoot and assist with the commissioning of AV systems, ranging from simple to complex setups. Skilled in using industry-standard computer applications for project management, ensuring timely and effective execution of tasks. Engage with customers to understand their specific needs and design tailored AV solutions for various venues. Organize and manage customer billing, invoicing, and payment processes.
Actively participate in preparing classrooms for the school day, including responding quickly to hotline calls, as part of a collaborative team with students and staff. Provide rapid technical support in classrooms and AV venues for faculty, staff, and VIPs, troubleshooting and resolving issues under tight time constraints. Create training materials and user guides for end users.
Construct, install, and maintain AV systems to ensure optimal performance, including cabling, controls, and displays. Read and interpret AV system drawings and specifications to implement designs effectively. Assist in creating and refining technical standards, processes, and procedures for AV systems. Perform commissioning and acceptance testing on AV systems, ensuring everything functions as expected. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during testing. Integrate AV systems and controls to provide automated health checks, ensuring the continuous health and performance of the systems.
Train customers and support staff on operating AV equipment, video conferencing tools, and best practices. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records for AV equipment, including assets deployed in classrooms, laboratories, event spaces, and other facilities, as well as keeping track of spare parts. Develop and maintain documentation, both print and online, to support AV operations, training, and troubleshooting. Support the installation, maintenance, and replacement of AV equipment, including climbing ladders, running cables, and mounting projectors or monitors.

Required Qualifications
Expert-level knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware/software, including projectors, document cameras, audiovisual switchers, Windows and macOS systems, video conferencing systems, and network devices.
