The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) partners with departments across the enterprise to translate business objectives into clear, actionable technology initiatives. Acting as a forward facing liaison, the BSA elicits and documents requirements, evaluates current system capabilities, and packages solution recommendations for review by the Director of Software Development & Integrations. The role combines deep process analysis with strong communication skills to ensure every project whether a new report, API integration, or full application enhancement—delivers measurable business value.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct discovery workshops, interviews, and process observations to define business problems, goals, and success criteria.
  • Analyze existing workflows, data flows, and system configurations; benchmark findings against industry best practices.
  • Translate user needs into detailed business, functional, and non functional requirements; maintain a living requirements traceability matrix.
  • Collaborate with the team to evaluate solution options, draft high level architectures, and estimate effort, cost, and risk.
  • Design acceptance test plans and conduct functional, regression, and user acceptance testing to confirm that delivered solutions meet documented requirements.
  • Facilitate alignment meetings with business sponsors, product owners, developers, and QA to manage scope and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create executive ready presentations, decision memos, and status dashboards summarizing risks, issues, and milestones.
  • Produce and maintain formal deliverables including Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications (FSD), Process Maps, Data Dictionaries, and Training Guides.
  • Champion enterprise documentation standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of the SDLC framework.
  • Support project managers with scope definition, work breakdown structures, and sprint/backlog grooming.
  • Track project KPIs post implementation and recommend optimizations based on ROI and user adoption metrics.
  • Demonstrates high level of quality work, attendance and appearance.
  • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management.
  • Adhere to all local, federal and state laws in addition to Company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned by management.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier‑2 functional support for critical business applications and integrations, escalating technical issues to development teams as needed.
  • Mentor analysts and contribute to knowledge‑sharing sessions across IT and business units.
  • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management

  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with evolving business priorities.
