Vascular Access Nurse Job Summary and Requirements
JOB SUMMARY: Serves as an expert in the field of vascular access, particularly in insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and midlines. In addition to these responsibilities, assists in education, consultation, and data collection.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing and three years' experience as an RN required.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina and BLS required. Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification to be obtained after 2 years of job experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Inserts PICCs and Midlines at bedside using Vascular Positioning System (VPS).
Provides expertise and serves as a resource specialist for the assessment, insertion, routine care, and education regarding vascular access devices with a focus on central lines, PICCs, and midlines.
