Position: Region Director, US Field Medical Hematology, MM/Lymphoma

The Field Medical organization embodies our medical mission to be recognized as the trusted partner for internal stakeholders and the healthcare community, driving scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, insight generation, and patients’ access to medicine.

The Field Medical (FM) Region Director role is a field-based role focused on leading a team of Field Medical professionals. Direct reports will include field-based Medical Science Liaisons across the US. The FM Director will be responsible for oversight of MSLs in support of BMS Oncology medicines.

This position will focus on Multiple Myeloma assets, driving scientific engagement with community high disease burden healthcare practitioners and may be asked to shift across different malignancies as needed to support future launch priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management

    • Active member of the Field Medical leadership/ management team, within and across therapeutic areas (TA)

    • Identifies talent, conducts robust interview process for selecting highly qualified FM and other medical personnel, and fills vacancies expeditiously

    • Defines and effectively implements key talent retention strategies

    • Ensures new staff attend new hire on-boarding and complete required therapeutic and administrative training programs within established timelines

    • Translate the national brand and medical strategy into actionable regional or territory plans, ensuring consistent execution across the team.

    • Evaluates specific and measurable objectives and tracks and analyses performance data against these measurements for the team

    • Translates FM objectives into individual performance goals for direct reports and helps define performance goals

    • Develops an annual development plan with each direct report; tracks progress toward and supports the execution of the plan through identification of opportunities

    • Effectively provides consistent coaching, mentoring, and frequent feedback to direct reports, and others, as appropriate; documents behavioral observations and performance as directed and/or as needed

    • Conducts all company directed performance assessments with reports and actively participates in talent conversations

    • Promotes a culture of inclusion, innovation, constructive challenge, team spirit and accountability within the region that is patient-centric

    • Creates and encourages an environment that stresses open, candid and timely feedback relative to performance and behaviors.

  • External Environment and Customer Focus

    • Ensure team’s ability to drive scientific exchange with Thought Leaders, appropriate HCPs, and access stakeholders, within a given geography to answer scientific, unsolicited product and HEOR related questions

    • Ensure capture and synthesis of medical insights aligned to strategic data priorities.

    • Support and evaluate MSLs ability to effectively present information to HCPs and ability to respond to questions, ensuring medical accuracy and compliance with local procedures, ethical and legal guidelines and directives

  • Contribute to the Medical Plan

    • Shape and Execute the Field Medical Plan in collaboration with HOM strategies.
