About the role

Job Description

The Quality Control Associate Specialist is responsible for independently performing advanced laboratory procedures to test veterinary biologicals in compliance with strict governmental and company guidelines. This role involves working with a variety of technical equipment and requires adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The associate specialist must have a thorough understanding of scientific principles behind testing procedures and the materials being evaluated (e.g., virus, bacteria, cell line).

Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Consistently demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a safe laboratory environment.

  • Comply with all safety regulations and company policies.

  • Perform quality control testing using various cell culture, substrates, and viruses, according to established procedures.

  • Troubleshoot test methods and assist in the development and implementation of new procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and concurrent documentation, including charts, logbooks, and records.

  • Participate in project teams and lead or support special projects.

  • Provide training for LIMS and other applicable systems.

  • Assists in the development and revision of SOP related to microbiological testing

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with QA to manage and execute LIMS data cleanup in compliance with data integrity standards

  • Support audit readiness by reviewing, correcting and organizing LIMS sample.

  • Assist with environmental monitoring and microorganism identification.

  • Support the annual outline review process

  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of laboratory equipment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ATS, BTS, QA and Production.

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and new challenges, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.

Education Requirement:

  • Minimum: Associate degree in a scientific discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience. 

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Biology or a related field.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks for effectively.

  • Experience with microscopic analysis and microbiological assays.

  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations and good documentation practices.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of GMP/GLP practices.

  • Hands-on experience with cell culture in a biological testing environment.

  • Proficiency in root cause analysis tools

  • Experience using SAP, LIMS and Reliance systems.
