We are looking for talented and motivated students to join us in this adventure on our Automation and Robotics team (A&R).
We count on you for:
- Syensqo is seeking a chemistry student with an interest in automation and robotics to support research applications laboratories in the development of innovative products.
- The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the programming, testing, verification and general use of different automation tools and platforms, under the supervision and guidance of senior automation and robotics scientists.
- This position will also require analyzing, reporting, and presenting data and findings to communicate clearly with the project teams and scientists.
- During the internship, the student will acquire broader industry knowledge, and learn research and development (R&D) methodologies to develop and deploy automation solutions and setups. The A&R team works all across Solvay with teams involved with product development in multiple areas and markets such as Biotechnology, Materials, Home and Personal Care, Coatings or Mining.
- Build and sustain the high throughput synthesis, sample preparation and formulation capabilities with commercial robotic platforms such as North Robotics, Chemspeed, Opentrons or platforms built in house
- Carry out common laboratory experiments and analyze the results
- Document procedures in lab notebooks and in other technical documentation
- Eventually write scripts to control robotic platforms
- Work collaboratively with peers, project team members and customers towards successful project completion

You will bring:
- BS with experience or MS level in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related
- Hands on lab experience in analytical, organic, polymer synthesis or formulation
- Data processing and visualization (such as Excel, Google Sheets, JMP, Python or R)
- Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing
- Adaptability to change of project pace
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus
- Experience with automation or robotics is a plus
- Knowledge of Python or any other programming languages is required.
- Housing stipend available for out of state students
You will get:
- Competitive hourly salary
- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is ($22 to $28 per hour). Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
