About the role

The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Designer opening within the Solar Electrical group.  The Designer supports an assigned group of engineers and technicians by providing technical drafting and design support for solar projects with limited supervision.

What You'll Do

  • Successful candidates will design and develop plans for solar projects by drawing accurate models on a given software platform.

  • Apply knowledge of solar designs and utilize CAD modeling and existing Microsoft Excel tools to design solar plant layouts, collection systems, and supporting details while providing technical guidance to other technicians and engineers.
  • Work with other technicians to organize existing and develop new CAD processes and standards to be used across the solar department.
  • Help train technicians and engineers on solar standards and CAD processes. 

What We Expect from You

  • Two-year technical degree in Technical Drafting or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years of related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with CAD software programs such as AutoCAD and Civil3D.   Proficiency with  GIS software, SketchUp, Revit, or other 3D BIM software is a plus.  
  • Extensive understanding of AutoCAD design features including  blocks, layers, tables, visibility states, viewports, sheet set manager, LISP routines, etc.  Dynamo experience is a plus.
  • Detailed drafting experience with solar layouts, equipment details, grounding design, one-line diagrams, collection systems, and interconnection wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Thorough understanding of site layout logistics as it can relate solar equipment layout for efficient drafting and ease of construction
  • Ability to learn and successfully apply company, client, and projects standards and procedures
  • Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with individuals in a team environment
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Good organization and communication skills to assure projects are completed on schedule
  • Must be able to work independently 
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US
