Senior Software Engineer (Core Services)

ABOUT THE ROLE  

We’re looking for passionate Engineers to further grow the Core Services team. We work in an agile environment supporting a growing number of cross-functional engineering pods that build user experiences to disrupt the logistics market. The domain space is complex with lots of greenfield and scalability engineering challenges to solve.

IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE

The core services team, responsible for managing tier0 services, plays a pivotal role in the success of a software system. These core services, such as authentication and notification, provide the foundation for user access, communication, and system integrity. 

 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL…

As an engineer in the core services team your responsibilities will be in designing, implementing, and maintaining tier0 services ensures that users can securely authorise / authenticate, receive timely notifications, etc - thus ensuring a seamless user experience. Moreover, you will be responsible for optimising performance, ensuring high levels of reliability and availability, and adhering to security and compliance requirements. This contribution is crucial in building a robust, scalable, and secure software system that meets user needs and protects sensitive data, making the core services team an indispensable part of the software development process.

We expect that you will be a person to share responsibility for driving such initiatives:

• Unify and standardise authentication and authorisation processes.
• Ownership and support for Tier 0 core services.
• Ownership of low-level notification channels (aka Email, etc).
• Take a lead role in architecture’s design.
• Collaborating with other engineering teams.
• Ensure effective communication with other teams and stakeholders.

 

PREFERABLY YOU HAVE…

• 5+ years of experience in building and operating web applications.
• Understanding of security aspects (OpenID, OAuth, Service to Service, Zero Trust)
• Solid knowledge of programming with one of the backend languages (Python, TypeScript), several programming languages is a plus 
• Continuous learning and is particularly passionate about technology.
• Experience in designing and building production-ready microservices.
• Confident presentation and strong influence skills with adaptability based on the audience.
• The constant drive for improving processes and thinking in long-term wins.
• Fluency in English (in both written and verbal communication)
