Compass Health Center is seeking a Medical Director for our Young Adult and Adult Programs at our Chicago facility.

Overall responsibility:
- The Medical Director is responsible for the day-to-day medical management of Compass Health Center’s Young Adult and Adult programming at our Chicago facility
- The Medical Director shall directly manage all prescribers within these programs (Psychiatrist and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners). This includes:
- Assigning patients
- Consulting on complex psychiatric/medical cases
- Providing feedback to direct reports (Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners)
- Conducting annual reviews
- Monitoring gaps in coverage
- Running program specific prescriber meetings and collaborating with other site Medical Director for site-wide prescriber meetings
- Managing call schedule
- Responsibilities will include but are not limited to are:
- Overseeing program specific medical staff and clinical care
- Recruitment and hiring of new clinicians and senior clinical staff
- Setting of medical policies and procedures
- Program specific development and strategy
- Liaising with local and state agencies (DCFS, Department of Aging, Law enforcement, Department of Public Health when applicable)
- Liaising with local hospital systems and laboratories
- Liaising with Risk Management
- Attending meetings related to program planning and strategy
- Partnering with the Regional Medical Director to monitor prescriber budget for identified program
- The Medical Director shall report to and consult with the Regional Medical Director
- The Medical Director will partner with the senior director of identified program and provide medical consultation to clinical programs
- The Medical Director will partner with Utilization review, Nursing, and Operations
- As a prescriber you will still be expected to perform the following duties:
- Coordinating patient care
- Conducting psychiatric evaluations; making diagnoses and prescribing medication
- Writes psychiatric clinical records to document all patient contact
- Participating in Utilization Review/Quality Assurance activities
- Participating in professional development activities
- Daily care of patients and administrative duties as related to direct patient care in the PHP/IOP
- Work in a collegial, supportive and caring environment
- Availability and willingness to be on call for after hours and weekend phone triage and consultation of current and potential patients
Qualifications (necessary skills and experience required):
Allopathic or Osteopath Degree (MD or DO)
- Four years post-residency or fellowship experience, previous medical and/or executive management experience strongly preferred, including but not limited to:
- Chief Resident/Fellow
- Faculty position with teaching/research experience
- Elected leadership position in medical/professional society
- Management role in private practice group or medical group
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent executive functioning
- Skill in the evaluation and treatment of mental illness
- Skill in psychopharmacology
- Skill and previous experience in psychotherapy including CBT, DBT and ACT modes of therapy
- Possession of a valid Illinois license as a physician and surgeon at the time of appointment
- Evidence of having completed three years of graduate training in psychiatry in a program approved by the American Medical Association.
