Summary

Highway Worker I, Entry-level Position: Under direction, performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties in support of assigned County Department, Division, or program, with a primary focus on traffic-related infrastructure. Work will generally be performed in the Public Rights of Way (ROW), maintaining and repairing County-owned or maintained traffic control systems, signage, and pavement markings.

Highway Worker II, Journey-level Position: Requires 2 years of increasingly responsible experience and more advanced DOT-recognized licensure/certification. Under direction, performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties in support of assigned County Department, Division, or program, with a primary focus on traffic safety and control. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining traffic signs, pavement markings, and other roadway safety measures.

Highway Worker III, Master-level Position: Requires 4 years of increasingly responsible experience and more advanced DOT-recognized licensure/certification. Independently and proficiently performs a full range of skilled maintenance duties related to traffic control systems, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signs, pavement markings, guardrails, and temporary traffic control measures. Operates light and heavy equipment to support traffic operations and roadway safety.

All Levels: Highway Workers are considered essential staff. Availability for shift work, on-call, and stand-by call is required, especially during weather events. Overtime for these positions is available and is periodically required.

Highway Worker I: The hiring range for this position is $23.26 - $26.75 / The potential hiring full range for this position is $23.26 - $32.57
Highway Worker II: The hiring range for this position is  $26.14 - $30.10 / The potential hiring full range for this position is $26.14 - $36.60
Highway Worker III: The hiring range for this position is $31.13  - $35.80 / The potential hiring full range for this position is $31.13 - $43.59
