Job Summary:
Provides operational assistance of the daily activities, coordination of clinician staffing and/or scheduling while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care to callers of the poison hotline. Provides ongoing education, coaching, and mentoring to assigned staff.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works in collaboration with the department leader in oversight of day-to-day operations which includes mentoring, training, and problem solving for the 24-hour poison center telephone services.
- Collaborates with staff, visitors, media, and other health care providers.
- Collects and documents live data. Utilizes online resources for information gathering and communication with callers through the phone system and data collection system.
- Demonstrates knowledge of accreditation criteria for America’s poison centers.
- Participates in the performance review process by soliciting peer feedback, collating on behalf of department leader, and providing input.
- Creates an environment that fosters a positive patient care experience by evaluating, planning, and implementing effective patient care plans. Operates within the guidelines of the standards of poison center operational guidelines under the medical supervision of a board-certified toxicologist.
- Assists with on-the-job training of new staff ensuring compliance/completion of assigned/required tasks and departmental policies/procedures.
- Assigns, leads, educates, and monitors specialist in poison information staff and support staff during assigned shift.
- Serves as lead role in process improvement responsibilities. Assists leaders in preparing clinical reports and other operational duties.
- Responds to complaints about patient care and manages through established channels.
- May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing, and evaluating staff.
- Works in constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D, Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movement
